Hello, friends! Many of you have been with me for some time at my previous blog (Skin Care for Your Soul), and I am so grateful that you have decided to join me at the new Plant Glamour blog - a place that already feels like home. Some of you I know and have worked with personally for years, while some have been friends I have never even met in person. These past years have certainly been an adventure - Autumn Moon has grown and evolved, as have you and I.
For friends I am just getting to know, I wanted to first, say "Hello and thank you for being here!" One of the greatest blessings of these past years of Autumn Moon Aesthetics has been all of the people I have been able to meet and I look forward to getting to know you.
So, today, I wanted to share a bit about myself with you, in hopes that you will share with me.

How did you begin this career?
I have had a love for plants as long as I can remember. I grew up in a rural part of Michigan and the fields and forest were my playground. As a pre-teen, I formed a love for skin care, crafting my own skin care products from plants and produce, as well as a love for makeup - the weirder, the better (I did grow up in the 80s, after all).
After graduating high school, I studied advertising and social science at Michigan State University. I originally wanted to be an anthropologist, but decided on another path. Although I graduated and moved on to have a successful career in automotive advertising in Detroit for several years, my heart longed to be working on skin, making people feel beautiful and forming one-on-one healing connections with clients. In 2001, I finished aesthetics school and received my license to practice.
My skin care career began working as a therapist in a Victorian-style spa, offering traditional European and medical esthetic skin care services, makeup and relaxation sessions. I also worked as a freelance makeup artist and in 2003, began creating handcrafted, custom lip colors for clients, brides and stage performers - and this is where Autumn Moon was born.
During the recession, the spa I had worked at for 8 years closed, like many other business struggling in the Detroit area. It was then that I began working with private skin care clients and focusing on pursuing more education in aromatherapy and plants and their applications for healthy skin, as well as formal training in crafting skin and body care products. I also began writing the Skin Care for Your Soul blog in 2008, as well as blogging for other publications, such as Mother Earth Living.
All of this has culminated in the opening of my etsy shop in 2014 and the launch of the Plant Glamour blog this year. I feel like things have come full circle - maybe even a few times - and I'm thankful for it all.
